TASC’s annual Leadership Awards Luncheon and fundraising campaign offer an opportunity to celebrate the successes of TASC and recognize leaders and partners who make our work possible.
If you are reading this blog, you are in some way connected to TASC. 🙂 We would like to invite you to join us in our efforts.
We will present our 2009 Leadership Awards to Retired Judge Louis B. Garippo and Isaac Lewis, Jr., two Chicagoans whose outstanding leadership has contributed to innovative and fiscally responsible solutions to pervasive social problems.
Judge Garippo will receive the 2009 TASC Justice Leadership Award for a lifetime of exemplary dedication to social justice. In addition to a distinguished 50-year legal career working as assistant state’s attorney, then judge, and finally private attorney, Judge Garippo became an active member of the TASC Board of Directors (from 1980 until 2007) and served as board chairman for almost 20 years.
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to Lou,” said Melody Heaps, president and founder of TASC. “His wisdom, his compassion, and his deep sense of justice and fairness have helped thousands of people across the state.”
The 2009 TASC Public Voice Leadership Award will be presented to Isaac Lewis, Jr. founding publisher and CEO of North Lawndale Community News, which offers information, education, and employment opportunities in and around Chicago’s North Lawndale community.
“Fifteen years ago, Isaac successfully turned his life around with TASC’s help,” said TASC Executive Vice President Pam Rodriguez. “His work today provides important resources and inspiration for others to not only advance themselves but also strengthen the communities in which they live.”
TASC’s Leadership Awards Luncheon will be held at the InterContinental Chicago next Wednesday, June 10 from 11:30AM-1:30PM. Tickets are $125.
