TASC and IL Treatment Agencies Receive Doomsday Letters; Still No Answers from Quinn, Cullerton, Madigan, Radogno, Cross

Illinois’ “doomsday” budget cuts have hit.

TASC and numerous substance abuse treatment providers received letters today (June 15) from the Illinois Department of Human Services announcing that service contracts will be cut some 75 percent as of July 1.  Service providers will be forced to cut or suspend services until the budget is resolved.

Equally devastating “cut letters” came from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, affecting services for thousands of children across Illinois.

These budget cuts are calamitous for the entire human service environment in Illinois.  They are the result of an impasse among those charged with settling the state budget, including Governor Pat Quinn, House Speaker Michael Madigan, Senate President John Cullerton, House Minority Leader Tom Cross, and Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno.

If you are opposed to these massive, statewide services cuts, contact your Illinois state representative and state senator.
